I’m Still Standing

Not sure how

But I’m still standing

You kept going after the foundation I was standing on

Piece by piece

Brick by brick

You kept chipping away

Slowly, but methodically

You knew what you were doing

Going about it in such a way that you left no evidence

You attempted to burn bridges for me, too

But all you did was show the true colours of everyone around me

Words can only go so far

Actions speak volumes

The rope you tried to hang me with has been cut

The pick you used to dismantle my foundation has been thrown out

I’m slowly getting back my footing

My balance may be wobbly

My footing may be a little unsteady

But I’m still standing

I’m not your first victim

And I won’t be your last

But I may be one of the first ones to remain standing

And that’s no easy task

I learned the hard way that dealing with a dark triad personality can turn deadly

You tried very hard to send me down that road

All because I stood up to you

But I’m still standing
